Approximately 890 investors, as well as 2.658 members of their families, became holders of the Greek Golden Visa, according to the statistics published by the Migration Service of the country for year 2021. At the same time, Russian, Chinese and Turkish citizens are showing great interest in obtaining the Golden Visa. The Greek Golden Visa began to be issued in 2013 and, from the very beginning, proved to be very popular among citizens of countries such as China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Russia. In 2014, 723 foreigners had already acquired the Golden Visa and by November 2021 this figure had grown to 28.000, both investors and the members of their families. The past year, some significant changes have taken place in the procedure of acquiring the Greek Golden Visa. Starting from May 2021, the documents required to obtain the residence permit are examined by a specific department, which led to the reduction of the needed time for obtaining the Golden Visa. In fact, nowadays the procedure is completed in one month instead of the three needed previously.
