Syntagma: Τhe most famous square of Athens at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics


Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens, also known as Constitution Square. It is located in front of the 19th-century Old Royal Palace housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. Syntagma Square is the most famous square of modern Athens at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics. On one of the sides of Syntagma Square is the historical 5-star Hotel Grande Bretagne, built in 1842 and transformed into a hotel in 1874!


At the top of Syntagma Square is Ermou Street, one of the city’s main shopping streets, which leads to Monastiraki. Monastiraki is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Athens, located at the heart of the city. Monastiraki square is a famous meeting place for Athenians! Standing in the middle of the square, you can see a blend of historical eras, architecture and cultures!


The Acropolis and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. The Parthenon is a former temple on the Acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena during the 5th century BC. It is considered an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, democracy and Western civilization.


Plaka is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. It is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. and known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites.
